light amber color. Frothy white head. Oranges, apricots and cherries in the nose with slightly sweet malt character. Crisp palate, nice toasted malt character with minerally and fruity character. Modestly bitter. Excellent

The filtered version fills my glass about like I’d expect it to- with a nice medium copper orange and a lovely head on top. A bit of fruit and sweet malt up front followed by light hops in the background. The hops provide some nearly nondescript noble notes to the beer. They are there but damn near impossible to find in the aroma. Medium bodied. I get a similar profile to the aroma in the flavor with a nice but relaxed bitter bite in the finish.
It’s a nice beer but in the end a bit forgettable. Though that’s pretty standard for California Commons, in my opinion. It fits the bill, though. Simple, well brewed and good to drink while your attention is elsewhere.

Finally giving this a try: Baeren California Common Filtered 5.5% Orange-brown in color with an ultra-light beige head. The aroma is malty biscuit. He taste was quite malty up front with biscuit and tobacco sweetness then a very crisp finish with a dash of herbal bitterness. I find this more put together than the unfiltered.
Lovely maltiness. Touch of lemon. Lovely easy drinking stuff

bottle, mail order form the brewery. Deep amber-orange with a thick, tall, airy head. Nutty nose, rich malt, toasted bread, light orange, grass, herbs. Rich and inviting. Flavor is also rich and malty, toasty, caramel, nuts. Slightly sweet with a dry, spicy, nicely bitter finish. Crisp yet on the full side. Really nice all around.
