For the first time ever, we’re digging into the Proprietor’s (Chicago-only release) vault and bringing back a fan favorite with Bourbon County Fourteen Stout. But this time, it’s with a twist. We’re paying homage to the popular Proprietor’s 2014 recipe, but upping the rye ante by adding rye to the mash bill. Layering cassia bark, cocoa nibs, panela sugar, and coconut water, this stout has an intricate, sweet and spicy flavor profile that will have fans going back sip after sip.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2022. Pours black with a chocolate brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has notes of barrel, cinnamon, dark grains and roasted malts all combining. Flavor has cinnamon, sweet dark grains, cookie and roasted malts with a growing bourbon presence.

Sampled at Bourbon County Stout Tasting @ Johnny's. Opaque dark brown to black color, no head. Aroma is heavy bounty / cocos. Flavor is malts, again lots of cocos, too much for me, don't like it really. Cinnamon in there as well? Also not my thing. No, not my beer at all. 7-5,5-5,5-8-6

Fles geprobeerd met Keukeman en Benzai op een tasting bij Addictee2craftBeer. Het is een diep donkerbruin bier met een dun schuim. Het heeft een aroma van chocolade en cocos. De smaak is vol, bourbon, chocolade en cocos. Meesterlijk!

Bottle from BCBS horizontal. Normal looking our for the style, black with thin beige head. Aroma is roasty malts, boozy, with light savory elements. Taste focuses on those savory eleements, all backed up the BCBS base, licorice, cacao, sasparilla. Lots of root beer flavors. Works really well, one of my favorites from the lineup.

Pours deep black into a snifter. Micro mocha head with excellent retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Hot rye, cinnamon and coconut aromas. Creamy with sweet cocoa, hot rye and chewy coconut upfront turning to warm, sweet chocolate in the lasting finish.

Bottle shared. Black with small beige head. Loads of cinnamon with some roast, vanilla and quite a bit of coconut. Semi-sweet.

Bottle. Aroma is cinnamon/ Cassia, chocolate-ish and soft bourbon. The body is full with a weak trace of coconut upfront before showing the bourbon flavors and A LOT of panela in the finish. Cassia shows throughout. Overall, the huge amount of panela sugar very nearly ruins the entire experience. So far this has been a very disappointing year for bourbon county stout. Maybe the limited barrels will save this year??!! Fuck!!

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours dark brn/blk with a slight darkish tan head. Aroma of chocolate, cinnamon and rye. Full bodied. Not dry. Something like bitter cinnamon is the primary flavor, but there's chocolate, rye, bourbon and some wood notes. Strongly flavored. Very tasty.

Dark brown colour. The cassia finds its way through the chocolate aroma. Full bodied, moderately sweet, with prominent alcohol burn; dark chocolate, strong cassia, dark sugar.
Good, but with all that cassia is not elegant for sure.
