Bitter Death was brewed with Texas malted barley and malted wheat from TexMalt and a touch of flaked oats. It was hopped aggressively at nearly 3 pounds per barrel with Perle, Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, and Tettnanger. We probably were more aggressive with the hopping than tradition would dictate, but dry, herbal, and bitter was our M.O. here. 100% naturally conditioned.
We get notes of white tea, dried hydrangea petals, bread dough, Texas toast, Euro-skunk, cannabis, dehydrated lime citrus wheels, caraway, and walking through the Hill Country on a spring day after it rains.

The local beer shop keeps a steady stream of Jester King beers coming through. Fine by me. I picked up a 16 oz can of Sudden Death a month back. And today my ABGB tulip glass is prepared to catch a pour. The liquid is an interesting amber-gold and the persistent ice white head is fed by a furious carbonation. With a sniff I determine citrus, hops and yellow fruit. Lift to take a drink. The taste follows the scent, lemon rind, grass, a hint of apricots, crackers and a mild hoppy bitterness. At only 5% abv, the sensation is deeper than I anticipated. A pleasant beer to drink on an unseasonably nice early spring day.

On tap. Pours amber with light head. Aromas of sweet bubblegum and dried fruit. Flavors of sweet dried fruit, sins floral hops and toasted malts. Ok but not Jester King

Perfume and lemongrass. Biscuit. Clear golden pour with pretty good head, not much lacing. End is only a little bitter, was hoping for more deathly bitterness. Pleasant though.

750mL bottle, batch 1, April 2021, drunk 6/9/23. Clear brass-copper. Small, white head, moderate retention. Tart culture with creamy, nutty wheat and oat. Biscuity, nutty malts, seemingly high attenuation. Hmmm there's tartness pitted against heavy, heavy, butter. Tastes like tart butter! Sour cream? Peppery hops are lovely on the finish and it's soft, deeply malted and well attenuated but it's just massively buttery.

Golden with a white head - Herbal aroma - Malt body with a citrus herbal flavour that gives bitterness - Citrus flavor goes into the finish - This was good
