Can from Lifecraft, Cowes, IOW. Dark brown, almost black, opaque with a sizeable beige head. Lots of pine and liquorice in the aroma, with a bit of molasses. Taste is quite sweet, followed by a lovely moment of alnost umami moment with a touch of Marmite, followed by piney bitter hops to the finish. Liquorice and Marmite chocolate in the aftertaste. I've had a few so-so black IPAs lately that were basically hoppy stouts (and not very hoppy at that) but this is the real deal.

Light sweetness and medium to heavy bitterness. Medium body, oily texture texture, average to soft carbonation. Bitter finish. Nicely done.

Keg at Hole in the Wall, Portsmouth. Nil aroma. Dark and glossy creamy off-white head. Light bitter. Some chocolate and oats. Light. Thin. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. Decent if light weight.
