The brewery “grew up” in Edmonton, so we wanted to honour our adopted hometown with a beer of its own. Decked out in livery inspired by the old Borough of Edmonton coat of arms, this 4.3% ABV best bitter is a modern take on the ales that were historically brewed in the Lea Valley. It combines a traditional British malt base with an international line-up of hops, including one of our favourites – the English hop Archer, which has a rich stonefruit note to it.

500ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, redd-ish, dark amber colour with average to huge, thick, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, sulphureous, off-white head. Floral hoppy and minimally toasty malty aroma, a touch of viola. Taste is slightly toasty and minimally nutty malty, floral and minimally fruity hoppy, hints of viola and red berries. Minimally oily, watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally greasy palate, fine, soft, creamy carbonation. Well crafted, relatively intense hoppy - nice, updated traditional Ale.

500ml bottle, thanks to Gus. Gushed over the kitchen worktop, thankfully a good amount left to enjoy though. Hazed amber pour with overly large white head. Leafy, nutty, fruity sweet aroma. Taste continues in a similar vein, nicely sweet, malt-forward with nutty, leafy shades, caramel notes. Quite nice in the end.

Tap, half-pint shared with Finn at Beerblefish Brewing Taproom. Bright dark amber body, filmy layer, spotty lacing. Promising smell of caramel fruit, mid-dry. Well balanced taste of brittle caramel and leafy hops. Ends dry and on the sweet side of bittersweet. Pretty good. (The Blackhorse Beer Mile, London 21.11.2021).

Delt med Rune. Gyldenbrun. Så vidt litt luftig skumring. Aroma av søte bær. Smaken karamell. Tørr, forsiktig bitter avslutning.
