Can from the Grumpy Goat, Reading. Amber with a craggy white head and a soft fizz. Maltiness dominates, with wheat chaff, brown sugar and a crackle of autumn leaves. Sweetish, little hop presence. Very drinkable, a proper first pint after a hard day type beer. Nice to see a modern craft brewer tackling a traditional malty bitter - and doing it well. I very much enjoyed it, although hopheads probably won't!

[Cask at the Alehouse, Reading.] An attractive reddish amber pour with a thin white head; fruity aroma; earthy malt taste with a little hedgerow fruit; then a dry finish with an earthy bitterness. A satisfying straightforward bitter.

Half-pint, cask at Alehouse. Shared with Finn. Near-clear brownish body, bubbles on the surface, spotty lacing. Moderate smell of fruity caramel. Similar taste of fruity caramel, earthy. Ends bittersweet. Easy to drink. Satisfying. (Reading 19.11.2021).

Delt med Rune. Varm gylden. Luftig filmskum. Klar. Lett bæraroma. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken bær & litt malt. Tørr, lett bitter avslutning.

Can from The Tasting Barn, nr Wokingham. Aroma is sweet with caramel and a grainy core. Hazy light brown. Foamy off-white head. Medium bitter with a sour berry edge. Gooseberries to be precise. Hints of caramel in the mix. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat-average carbonation. Long dry finish. Enjoyable but I guess not traditional bitter.

Can at home, picked up from West Berkshire Brewery, 14th May 2021. Pours a chestnut brown and clear. Aroma is earthy, caramel, fruity. Taste is bitter and caramel with fruit, an excellent hoppy best bitter. Great
