For our latest release – SWEETSPOT – we set ourselves the challenge of brewing a 7% IPA that would hit that hallowed hot spot between drinkability and full-mouthfeel. We’re really happy with the results.

Oats, Maris Otter and multiple additions of Simcoe, Citra and Nelson Sauvin combine to create an India Pale Ale that is at once minerally and juicy with massive aromas of orange, tangerine and lemon zest, along with a delectable weedy/piny/dankness.

Draft into bottle from lowcostbeer. Caramel orange colour with small white head. Aroma is quite sweet with underripe mango and pineapple, hop spice. Taste of tangy citrus, mango, pineapple, caramel, light dank and spice. Quite bitter in the finish which balances the sweetness well. Medium bodied, smooth, nice fine carbonation. Very good.

Foamy white head on a hazy pale golden coloured body. Orange, hoppy & peppery aroma. Medium to full bodied, sticky on the tongue with a sharp back. Orange, pithy, citrussy & marmalade tastes with a bitter finish. Very decent IPA.

Can sourced from Ales and Brews and shared at home (21/05/2022) - hazy golden yellow with a white head. Juicy fruity with vibrant notes of melon and pineapple, satsuma, peach, nelson induced white grape, nice zesty citrus peel throughout, soft sweet supporting malts, solid balanced bitter hoppy close. Another winner from Beak, lovely.

Draft at the brewery taproom. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, tropical citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a fresh, crisp, malt, juicy mango, passionfruit, dry hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Keg, 1/3 pint shared with Finn, drink-in at Beerfly. Lacing rings down the glass from a dissipating white head, hazy golden body. Promising hop fruity smell of citrus, including grapefruit. Fine citrus taste of grapefruit and orange added by juicy oats beneath. Hints of fruity bitterness to the ending. Fine depth to it. Likable. (Bedford 18.11.2021).

Keg @ Tap and Can. Misty golden yellow appearance, small white head. Sharp hop introduction, Nelson and Simcoe breaking through the mix with tangerine and pineapple and soft underlying dank hints, bittersweet close. Decent.

Can from Beer Merchants. Hazy golden body with a thin white. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of melon and grapefruit. Flavour of orange jelly, pine needles and pineapple. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A typically excellent IPA from Beak. More bitter/spiky than previous ones they’ve done.
