A delightful 4.4% abv, with a medley of Citra and Comet coming together in a subtly bittered, but juicy pale. Lingering tropical fruits and papaya swoon over hints of passion fruit.

Cask @ Salopian, the pub, after our monthly beer tasting at Chez Sophie. Pours a hazed gold, white head. Lovely soothing sweetness at play that nudges slightly towards a peachy tropical side without fully committing. Ever so slightly creamy, smooth and refreshing. Lovely.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Mid- to dark gold with a thin white head. Tropical and stone fruit hanging in the aroma. I almost want to call this an 'alto' beer, full of the slightly deeper fruits such as papaya and crabapple. English malts combine with more stone fruit hop for a balanced finish. Good beer but it doesn't quite work for me.

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear yellow straw colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, light woody hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, grainy, gluey, toffee, floral, woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours a hazy bitter brown with a small off-white head. There’s a vague aroma of fruit, both classic and tropical. Sweetness is the first impression in the mouth. Swiftly followed by ripe autumn fruits with some underlying hoppy bitterness. Finish is sweet and fruity. It’s reasonable – thankfully the advertised Citra hops are not prominent !
