330ml bottle from Drinkmonger. Poure hazy dark-red-brown, think off-white head. Aromas are roasted malt, light chocolate and metallic notes. Some herbal hops. Taste is initially sweet, going through chocolate bitterness, hoppy herbs, dark sugar. Finishes dry. Very nice.

Keg at Brewdog, Shepherds Bush, London. A dark brown coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Roasty, malty, nutty aroma. Taste is similar, roasty, malty, nutty, some caramel. Easy drinking brown ale.

Bottle from the brewery’s online shop. Hazy brown body with a few flecks floating beneath thick beige head. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, rust, jam, raisin, earth, flat Coca-Cola and Demerara sugar. Flavour of caramel, roasted malt, earth, Dr Pepper and a hint of chocolate. Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Soft fizz. Rich and sweet. Great depth - the aroma especially.

Bottle 330ml. [ As The Kernel Brown Ale ].Clear medium to dark brown color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light chocolate, light to moderate hoppy. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate, hoppy, caramel, dark malt, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140217]

33cl bottle. bottled on 03.12.13. Pours dark brown with a lacing, offwhite head. Looks great. Aroma has nicely roasted malt, cocoa, oatmeal and chocolate notes. Flavor has milk chocolate, roasted malt, some lactose sweetness and hint of coffee in the long finish. Feels quite thin. Easy to drink and quite tasty though.

330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, dark chestnut brown colour with small, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Malty, slightly nuttily aroma, a touch of treacle. Taste is moderately sweet malty, slightly nuttily, a touch of treacle, dry hoppy counterpart. Not fully convincing.
