Teaming up once again with our friends at Stone Brewing Co., we’ve brewed this super easy-drinking Double India Pale Ale featuring hibiscus, as well as orange and lime peel. The beer is light in body and packed with tropical, citrus, and fruity notes from huge amounts of Citra, Strata, HBC 592, and Amarillo. When our two breweries join forces, your palate can’t avoid the dual exposure to flavor!

Pint can from Vintage Estate, 5/2/22. Hazy orange, pink tinge. Large frothy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of pine, hibiscus, jasmine, lime zest. Taste is hibiscus, mango, lime, floral notes, umami. Low bitterness, juicy. Interesting.

1 pint can. Pours a copper color with moderate head. Aromas of soft pine, doughy malts, and muddle fruit. Flavours follow same but bring out more resin and dank hops plus pineapple. The way a big West Coast IPA should be.

Can. Pinkish amber with a near white head. Aroma of oranges, light biscuit, flowers. The citrus is the more obvious of the additions but neither are crude. Light body for >8%. Not much to the malt; lots of pleasant but not obviously cohesive flavours sit together on not much. But it finishes dryish and reasonably bitter and with citrus reasonably central, it works pretty well.

16 oz. can, pours a fairly clear dark amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma reveals lots of floral notes from the hibiscus, followed by some citrus peel, and restrained resinous hops. Flavour is unusual, revealing lots of bitterness from the citrus peel, floral notes, and a toasted bready malt backbone. I can't say I'm a fan of the hibiscus in here; it, along, with the malt seem to cover over the hops, making this a rather muddle double IPA that is underwhelming considering the reputation of these two breweries. This isn't too impressive.

From a 473ml can on 22/5/2021. Pours a clearish deep copper with a pinkish tinge, with a medium head which disappears. The nose is floral and a bit herbal - assuming that's the hibiscus. Has a quite a bit of medium sweet citrus up front, followed by a moderate to firm bitterness, again featuring some interesting herbal and floral notes, which lingers a while. Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Certainly a bit unusual and actually comes together quite nicely, if not quite hitting a home run.
