Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark reddish brown with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasty malt, light red berry fruits. The flavour is light sweet, with a smooth, rich, roasty, light sweet caramel, nutty, red berry fruit palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. An awesome mild! Not like the mild my grandfather drank, but times have moved on!

Cask at Nortons of Digbeth. Light coffee and charcoal aroma. Darkest cola. Thin blotchy belge head. Light bitter for a few milliseconds before a big citrusy lemon juice streak appears. Underlying creaminess. Light. Thin. Watery. Flat. Long finish. Nice enough.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head and good lacing. Malts are well respresented in the aroma, along with hints of blackberry and liquorice. Sweet and malt with some toffee to start with in the mouth. Later on dark fruits and chocolate rise to the top. Finish has a humbug sweet flavour, with some sweetness. A nice solid mild.

Cask at The Plasterers Arms, Norwich, Norfolk. A very dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate, dark fruit, caramel aroma, tastes pretty much the same but very light. It's quite a thin mild but quite decent too.

Cask at the Cock Tavern - Hackney. Pours clear cola brown with a minimal, foamy off-white head. Lightly sweet with notes of brown bread, toasted grains, nips of cocoa, earth, toffee. Light bodied with very slight carbonation. Sweet finish, more toasted malts. Adequate.
