0.33 l bottle from 'Speciaalbierpakket.nl', bottled in November 2019. Clear, very dark ruby with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite vinous-fruity and a little herbal-spicy aroma of molasses, caramel, plums, juniper berries, quite some red wine and traces of licorice root. Rather sweet, malty, gently vinous-fruity taste of molasses, caramel, plums and red wine, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, quite vinous, gently herbal-spicy and a little woody finish with notes of juniper and licorice root. Full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Nice winter warmer with a lovely balance of malty sweetness and vinous-woody fruitiness, accompanied by a touch of herbal spiciness. Quite complex and moreish, really good.

Bottle from the brewery, No. 2611/7250. Nice sticky toffee nose. The beer starts intense mild, creamy caramelly. Deep plums, cherries, moderate sweetness. Caramel wir dark dried fruit in the end, very nice balanced, fantastic with hints of biscuits.

Bottle. Color: Dark copper, thin off-white head. Aroma: Vinuous, sweetish, caramel, dark fruit, red wine. Taste: Quite a lot of red wine, some dark fruit, caramel, fudge and vanilla hints, boozy notes, spicy notes. Sweet candy sugar notes. Vinuous. Dry-ish mouthfeel. Over moderate sweet, moderate bitter at first. Very slightly tart, like red wine. Quite a lot of bitterness at the finish. Notes of wood, tannins, mostly at finish. Over medium body. Nice one, Good balance in between base beer and barrel. I like the Gulpener experiments.
