This bemusing, bepurpled curiosity is the result of blending double bourbon barrel-aged dry English Barleywine and an intrepid volume of unfermented blackberries. Restrained malt sweetness, hefty tannins, vanilla-laden American oak, and sweet, tart blackberry combine to make an “extreme” beer which retains a decidedly playful accessibility. Enjoy now or store cold.

On tap at The Beer Temple, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small faded purpleish head. Aroma brings out lots of blackberries, bourbon barrels, brown sugar and toasted caramel. Flavour is very rich, with intense blackberries, bourbon barrels, and caramel. The blackberries work beautifully here. Lovely stuff.

Slightly dark reddish purplish black, near flat. Smell is pretty sweet, blackberries indeed, something teaish? Not thick but quite sticky, warmingly boozy, some carb. Taste is rich and complex, plenty blackberry, some caramel, light bourbon. Sweet!

Can thanks to Matt. Pours a dark purple with small beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is blackberry, cough medicine, toffee, wood, bourbon. Slick body, berry, toffee, wood, boozy finish, very sweet.

Can via BillyT. It pours hazy deep purple with a small, but lasting purply tan head. The aroma is big and bold, sweet, juicy, loads of tangy berry, jammy bramble, fruit crumble, blackcurrant tunes, vanilla fudge, toffee, deep intoxicating bourbon character and some damp oak. The taste is turbo jammy bramble & blackcurrant upfront, tangy, fruit crumble, then that calms down... Soft toffee, vanilla, damp oak, tannin, fudge, big hit of bourbon, fruit wine and only a touch of the alcohol heat. The sweet start is balanced out by a dry and tannic finish. Fulsome body and fine, fizzy carbonation. Super fun stuff. I feel like it shouldn't work, but it does.

Can from Revolution care of a friend. Thanks Jon! Pours a dark brown with purple highlights and an off-white head that lingers. Toffee, oak vanilla, chocolate and blackberry aromas on the nose. Bourbon as it warms with more vanilla and blackberry. Palate shows more of the same with a smooth finish of bourbon, vanilla and blackberry. Very nice.
