Padrísimo (Mexican slang for „great!“) is our winter warmer inspired by Mexican hot chocolate. This big stout was robust and complex already before we dropped 20kg of roasted cocoa nibs from Ecuador into the tank along with decent load of vanilla, cinnamon and bucketful of Ancho chillies. These provide not only slightly warming finish, but also nice aroma of smoked plums that mingles with the pastry ingredients. It might smell like Christmas cookie, but finishes dry, bitter and a tad spicy with no sugary overload.

12 October 2021. At BeerGeek Bar, Prague. Cheers to the lovely Anke!

Cloudy black, stable, foamy, beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate, chocolate powder, vanilla, meringue, almond, coffee, tobacco. Taste has sweet prune & date in a thick chocolatey malt body with fudge & almond notes, touch of vanilla. Peppery hoppy finish, some umami soy, lingering chocolate powder & spices (clove), dash of warming whisky alcohol. Full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Rounded Pastry Stout, a great example.

Tap at BGB 7th birthday. Pungent aroma, oily, alcohol, chilli, chocolate, in order of prominence at first... Hm. Pleasant chocolate-driven taste initially, vanilla, peppery touch and a mild burn. Ends still slick, if a bit dry and strongly warming. Pleasant but a bit rough initially. Later, the chocolate-vanilla combo wins out in the aroma, quite enticing, while the taste shows a soy and malt touch that slightly makes it less attractive than before. Still, very good! --- Beer aliased from original tick of Xoco on 05 Oct 2021 at 19:12 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5.
