season 1, episode 3, 29-jul-2021 on the can: Drink fresh or don't tasted 2024-04-17 Opened like it was fresh and not infected, good can control and sanitation. aroma of roasted malts, natural licorice, 100% dark chocolate, faint apple or pear like sweet note, Aroma from initial pour was especially really really good, later pours a bit more down to earth, aroma reminds me of very early danish beers when evil twin amager and mikkeller were experimenting. flavor is roasted malts, dark chocolate and a little bit of dark caramel, charred wood, wood, faint vanilla and coconut, roasted and toasted malts dominate. Pretty solid imp stout aroma and it shows no signs of aging, could be canned yesterday for what I know. The extra time might have blended the flavors a bit more and created a more smooth experience, i don't know. What is here is pretty good though, the heavy dose of roasted malts carry the rest forward in a dignified and respectful (for the malts) way.
Shockingly light and neutral. Basically just simple but very clean. The additions are mild. Beertemple ams

Bourbon barrel aged imperial stout with coconut and vanilla, from tap at Malz in Leuven. Thin and open, mocha-beige, stable ring for a head on a jet black beer. Aroma of melting dark chocolate, pecan nut pie, toffee, very obvious bourbon, toasted coconut rather than that typical ‘coconut milk’ scent, chestnut purée, latté macchiato, oak wood but actually only very faint vanilla in spite of it having been added as actual vanilla as well, hints of bayleaf, rum, caramel sauce, cognac. Sweet and clean onset, medlar, candied pear, light umami accent (teriyaki), medium carb with full and oily, very smooth and slick mouthfeel. Layers of caramel, chestnut and dark chocolate ensue, maintaining a nutty sweetness throughout but also developing a touch of roasted coffee bitterness, albeit quite subtle; coconut is recognisable retronasally but again in a subtle, toasted way rather than in-your-face ‘Batida de Coco’ aroma, while vanilla remains even more concealed. Some herbal hops, light roasted bitterness and woodiness, followed by indeed clearly bourbon-like alcohol: a classic ending to a classically formulated, 21st-century ‘impy’. Well done.

150ml draught, from a sample tray at Taphouse. Near black in the glass, scattered lacing, missing head. Attractive smell of vanilla chocolate. Well blended taste with black chocolate, vanilla, earth, and nuts. Lingering, slightly roasted, chocolate malty finish, very smooth. Full bodied. Enjoying sipper qualities. (Copenhagen, 03.05.2023).

On tap at Taphouse - CPH, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma reveals gentle coconut, light bourbon, and some dark sugars. Flavour is nice and coconuty, with tons of shredded, toasted coconut dominating, with some subtle vanilla underneath. Nice coconut character, along with good body. Excellent.

Fairly thin, dryish, roasty, malty. Coconut, coffee and vanilla, not bad.

(Keg at Pien Shop, 20230414) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had dark chocolate, cocoa powder, vanilla, ash and coconut. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, vanilla, sweetness, dark chocolate, coconut, vanilla and bitterness. Aftertaste had vanilla, burnt malts and bitterness. The base beer was hard to detect among the adjuncts.

Drank at my Athens home from Strange Brew Taproom. Black with a short lived beige head. Aroma of roast, dark chocolate, licorice, coconut, coffee and caramel. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter. Light full bodied with alcohol warmth and light carbonation.
