A collaboration brew cooked up by Brinkburn St Brewery & The Steam Machine Bready but not sweet; clean and malt forward; but bolstered with maize in the Mexican style. The Vienna lager has been at home in Central America for over a century, and easily holds its own against its European forefather. We brewed this Mexican-Vienna lager in honour of the sometimes mythical and historical figure General - and later President - Antonia Lopez de Santa Anna, who inspired the British sea shanty Santiano that, according to nautical folklore, originated from the British sailors who joined his ranks to fight against the Americans in the 1830s.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham! Amber gold colour, white foam head and aroma of malt, spice, grassy. Taste is smoked, malty, grain, tangy and grassy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite OK

10/4/2021. Can shared with SHIG at the Suffolk North Eastern Beer Out In Car Park Meetup. From CentrAle, Newcastle. Pours clear dark gold with a small bubbly/frothy white head. Aroma of malt, grass, fruit, yeast, touch of Mexican spice. Moderate sweetness, bitterness and body. Slight oily texture, average carbonation. Interesting brew, quite enjoyable.
