Full-bodied, dry, clove spice, chocolate and roasted malts. Tasty on a breezy Autumn day!
Robust Porters typically feature a more bitter and chocolate malt flavor as compared to a
lighter, This was the first beer we ever brewed at the Korbel facility. The recipe is very close to its original formulation. Bittered with Brewers Gold with Cascade and Celeia in the mid and late boil.

Draught @ the brewpub. Rated on 21.07.2012
Aroma has some dark chocolate and cocoa. Flavour is roasted with dark chocolate and hints of licorice. Rather good porter, reminds me of Sinebrychoff Porter, which is more roasted though.

Sampled at Toronado, but also available at the brewery on my visit. Pours with a near black body with a lasting tan head and good lace. Aromas are bitter, earthy, dusty, bready, nutty, fudge, soil and caramel. Quite dry. Flavors are bready, grainy and nutty. Strong malt complexity with out a lot of malt (brown malt?). Medium bitterness, and decently dry. Medium bubbles, dry and lasting bitterness. Well put together (as always!).

Honestly, is there a bad Russian River beer? 16oz pour is a lightly viscous mostly opaque black with a creamy off white head. Malty, chocolatey aroma that has some bread, toast, cookie dough and brown sugar. Flavor Ian really solid and more of the same; malty, milk chocolate, brown sugar, multi grIn bread. Medium bodied, dry finish

Tap, City Beer Store. Very good porter. This beer pours dark brown, black in the shade, with a nice tan head. The aroma is mostly chocolate, roast and coffee. It’s a nearly ideal balance for a standard porter. The flavor is balanced, not too sweet, not too dry. The hops are relatively light, allowing the malt to take center stage. It’s just an easy drinking, well-made beer, the kind of porter that every brewpub tries to make but rarely gets just right. This is a good beer and I’d love to have it again sometime.

Hand bottle at home ... Big thanks to iowaherkeye for this ... WOW ... this is only 5.5% is appears much stronger ... deep black thin tan head ... deep smooth chocolate malts... soft dark toasted fruits nose ... Rich roast malts again very smooth ... rich chocolate toffee ... good depth with quite a lot of hops in background ... Really quite stunning ... But id have put it much higher ABV... Realy nice beer to sink into

On tap at the brewpub. Pours deep dark brown with firm slightly lumpy light mocha head. Great looking brew. Some sheet lacing was left behind clinging to the glass. The modest aroma has notes of roasty to burnt malts moving toward light amounts of earthiness and molasses. The taste starts roasty with a pulse of astringency. It then moves into moderate burnt malts by midway to go along with a touch of earthiness mixing with hints of sweet molasses. Into the finish the roasty burnt malts swell to take over the flavor but in a restrained manner. Into the after taste roasty to burnt notes persist for a while.
