07-12-19 // taster flight shared at he brewery with C. herbal roasty nose. Aroma of dark roasted malts. Bitter chocolate. But also a spicy note i can’t pronounce. Good.

330ml bottle from Malt Attacks. Roasty and heavily hopped stout with loads of fruity notes, pine, grass, coffee, chocolate, cocoa and herbal notes. Nicely hoppy and lingering bitter finish. Nice one. Reminds me of one of my all time favourites (Plevnan Siperia)

Bouteille 33cl de Malt Attacks. BB 06/06/2020. I reckon Ron Gilbert would approve of this bottle, the monkeys taking over what seems to be Porte de Halle? An ode to LeChucks and Guybrush Threepwood and countless hours spent on this old school LucasArts games. Noire, col café au lait avec un léger filament huileux doré au verre. Arôme met ensemble de belles effluves de houblons dont un généreux bouquet californien - C-hops - pas mal de résineux et pin avec une petite pointe de pamplemousse, le malt est également bien placé mais arrivant juste un cran sous les houblons, ici des notes de grillé, café, caramel mais aussi un léger, et même subtile, tourbé. Palais est robuste, stout oscillant sur la Black IPA mais conservant assez de dominance de malts pour ne pas l'être. Retrouve un houblonné assez US - classique qui apporte une bonne note de résineux et de pin. Les malts reviennent en retrait et je note un caractère marqué par le caramel, léger grillé et torréfié (presque toffee) avec tout en retrait un côté légèrement tourbé? le vil Antoine serait-il derrière cela?

25/08/2019 @home - 33cl bottle from Malt Attacks. Black colour with brown head. Nose is dark malts, bit chocolate, bit fruits. Taste is dark malts, soft roast, bit caramel, bit fruits. Easygoing for a 9 ABV.

BXL ‘19. Black with a small beige head. Aroma of roast, dark malts, coffee, dark chocolate and caramel. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Sampled at BXL festival. Black with brown head. Quite roasty, peanuts, dry cocoa, earthy, dead leaves, dry chocolate and raw coffee. Medium sweet and over medium bitter. Over medium bodied.
