A true classic, Spitfire Amber is the head of the Spitfire family and a true taste of Kent. It was first brewed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, played out in the skies above Kentish soil. It is brewed using 100% Kentish hops, the finest malt and water drawn from a well deep beneath Shepherd Neame’s Faversham brewery.

Amber brown colour with medium white head that soon diminishes. Aroma slightly drain-like stinky with slight creamy malt. Slight toffee/caramel elements, but overall not much taste. Pleasant in the mouth and with soft carbonation, but really not very interesting.

Tap at Bisschops Arms in Stockholm ( near the central station ) . The only info I could get was 'spitfire ' as an English Bitter, and that it's 4.5 % . This felt like the most right entry, given that info. if not, admins, please move ? Pours clear rich amber, medium small, very creamy white head with loads of lacing. looks nice! Taste is full, caramelly, oxidation though, quite a lot of it, in comparancy to what you can expect on tap. Have these kegs been sotred warm ? this already shows actual papery notes. Well received caramelly backbone, slight bitterness, rather malty ( toasted bread-notes) background. Hoparioma is very little, English in character. Not bad, but probably not prime condition. Edit toards the glass' ending. As the beer warms up, it opens up to quite a lot of diacetyl. The last sips were surely unpleasantly strong diacetyl. Some is allowed in style, but this was to much. not sure if a line-oriented issue, or beer, or both.

Cask at Elephant & Castle, Farnborough. Malty aroma with a floral edge. Dark chestnut. Foamy off-white head. A good looking pint. Light-medium bitter. Dark berries. Biscuits. Light-medium bodied. A sticky, almost chemical, mouthfeel to it. Average carbonation. Relatively abrupt finish. Not too bad. Had blander.

Cask at the Hoop & Grapes. Pours deep amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is floral, malty, fruit, hop and caramel. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, slightly oily and watery texture, soft carbonation. It's not bad but sure it used to be better?

Cask at Wetherspoon, Birmingham Airport. Poured a clear amber colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is nutty malt, woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a smooth dry, light, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering dry bitter finish. A decent session ale.

Tried at the Three Horseshoes, Waddington. wasn’t expecting much from this, but I also know, it would be at its best. The beer was still a touch dull. Grainy bead aroma. Light sweet taste not much to say.

*On cask at Heathrow Terminal 5. Nice caramelly smooth beginning. Not to deep but very easy to drink. Round and fresh stuff with a nice smooth bitter ale aftertaste.
