Berlin-Style Tart Wheat Beer Aged In Oak Foeders With Raspberries
We’re totally Frucht around here. In fact, we may just be filled to the brim, with excitement, that is. Our threshold is 250 BBLs, to be more precise. That’s the total capacity of each oak foeder at Bruery Terreux. One is dedicated exclusively to Frucht, our series of fruited Berliner Weisse-style beers. Known for a tart flavor profile and traditionally low ABV, our German-style wheat beer gains even more funky notes and natural earthy-woodiness from its fermentation in the large oak foeder vessel. Each installment in the series features a new fruit, or Frucht, if we’re Sprechen sie Deutsch.
This installment has raspberries added. Prost!

375 ml bottle, vintage 2018. Shared by Powy, thanks!
Red, hazy body, with a medium, slightly pink head.
Aroma of fresh raspberries, funk, wood, some cherries.
Tastes similar, with some more vanilla.
mouthfeel, with a carbonation.
Finishes dry, medium acidic, a bit wooden, lactic, very fruity, with lingering raspberries.
Very nice. Sour fruity, with enough funk and wood. Maybe lacking a bit more balance, while pretty complex. Not outstanding, but interesting stuff.
Score: 7 / 4 / 7 / 4 / 15

0,375l bottle at home shared by Powy, big thanks. Vintage 2018. pinkish / redish cloudy color, small white head. smells of raspberries, citric, earthy, bit lactic, some raspberry jam, light marzipan, berry notes. very nice smell. light body, pearly carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of raspberries, citric, grassy, earthy, lactic, light spices, light wood. finishes rather dry and medium sour with notes of raspberries, lactic notes and citric notes. Very nice one, very dry and sour though. Rather in your face. Raspberries were almost a bit more noticeable on the smell than on the taste, overall still very nice one.

Legit raspberry juice, but maybe why raspberry juice doesn't exist is that it's mad tart. Not bad though.

Pink beer with a filmy head and a light, dry raspberry scent. Taste is much more distinctive, dominated as you'd expect by tart raspberry. Mellow out into a sweet, slightly bready aftertaste. Crisp and tasty.

Keg at BrewDog AGM. It pours crazy cloudy bright pink - red with a medium white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, jammy, fruity, raspberry, crisp, dry, tart, tangy and action. The taste is dry, tart, crisp, raspberry, lactic, sherbet, granny smith apple, bracing acidity, sharp, musty and earth with an acidic, sharp finish. Medium body and fine, prickly. Pretty punchy and acidic, but fine.

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/9/2017. Pours slightly hazy reddish orange/copper color with a 1 finger fairly dense light pine head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart/sour raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, peach, pear, melon, green apple, red/white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, raspberries, pale/wheat malt, and moderate oak notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/sour raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, peach, pear, melon, green apple, red/white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, peach, pear, melon, green apple, red/white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, raspberries, pale/wheat malt, and moderate oak flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sourness balance. Touch of increasing pucker, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/sourness, fruit tang, and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/acidic/tangy, fairly crisp, and lightly tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.3%. Overall this is an outstanding fruited Berliner weisse! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, raspberries, pale/wheat malt, and moderate oak flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink; with the modestely acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish, not overly lactic. Extremely jammy berries with balanced fruity Lacto, pale/wheat malts; and nice oak foeder presence. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected.
