Cask at the pub in Milan. Pours dark, unclear amber, almost brown. To dark for a bitter for sure. Very creamy white head. Smell is very subtile , mild sharpness. Almost citrussy hoppy note. Yet very subtile. Taste is creamy, mild bitter, mild yeasty. Bit metallic as well. Creamy, bit caramelly backbone. Something herbal that really puts the beer off for me. Misses the crisp, refreshing bite the traditional bitters all seem to have.

Cask at open baladin rome. Color color short creamy head. Aroma is malty with raisins and biscuits, sugary but balanced by moderate bittering hops. No carbonation, completely flat. Solvent in the finish, very smooth, out if the ordinary.

Dec. ’16. On tap at Open Baladin, Rome (cask). It poured a hazy copper body with medium sized, lightly off white head. Quite fine nutty, toasty and biscuity aroma. Flavor was lightly sweetish, toffee, caramel, a bit of very elegant biscuit. Touched with herbal hops. Thin to medium bodied with light, short finish which added somewhat more hop bitterness to its malty character. Although simple, it was very elegant, pleasant and effective. Expected some twist from Baladin though.

Handpump @Open Baladin (Rome). Ambrata limpida, schiuma leggera persistente. Al naso sentori di malto, caramello, biscotto, lieve erbaceo. In bocca è sbilanciata sul dolce, il finale amaro non sostiene la base di malto che risulta troppo invadente. Corpo medio, carbonazione assente. Da rivedere.

From the tap at Baladin, Bologna, Italy. Pours a shiny copper with creamy very fine white head. Aroma is of caramel, some herbaceous. Body is relatively dense, and creamy. Carbonation very low (as it should). Taste has marked bitterness, but supported by some sweetness that remains in the finish, which nonetheless is still relatively dry. Nice bitter!

Cask at Open Baladin, Roma, 09/02/14. Clear copper with a big old off white head that retains well. Nose is bready malt, biscuit, toffee, dark fruit nip, light tobacco strains. Taste comprises light toffee, nutty, bread dough, biscuit crumble, dark fruits. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, light bitterness in the closure. Ok stuff, typical Italian take on an English style, looks and feels good, not a huge amount of depth to the aroma and flavour but a pleasant enough easy drinker.
