22oz bottle pours out black topped with a small tan head. Nose is sweet over ripe pit fruit brown sugar and rich bourbon barrel booze notes. Taste is more of the nice sweet rich malts pit fruit, brown sugar, chocolate, tons of stuff going on, peppers, bourbon barrel notes, orange. This has held up pretty well.

Bottle. Black and opague. Dark chocolate, cream and bourbon in the aroma. Full bodied. Thick mouthfeel, slightly alcoholic. Dark chocolate, cream, roast and coffee hiding the alcohol and the boozy bourbon notes somewhat. Powerful, very tasty and satisfyingly balanced.

Pours bla k, small but tanned head. Smell is bit port ( due to the age ), oak, hidden bourbon, silky roastyness. Taste is full, roasty, some oxidation, bit barrel, chocolate. Tad bourbon aspects. Nice, perhaps a bit over its peak, but still good.

22oz bottle picked up at Jims Homebrew a few years ago
Pours clear dark brown with a medium sized tan head, good lacing. Aroma of dark malts, licorice, rich chocolate and coffee. Taste of dark malts, ashy, chocolate, whiskey and leather
Very nice, smooth. Glad I held this one for a few years.

At a vertical event. Mellowed malt, strong dark malt flavors. A bit of dustiness and slightly astringency . Flavor shows a little age. Just like a big version of the regular Black Butte but slightly old.

Bottle shared at the RBESG 2014, grand tasting 10/08/2014 Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell. Nice looking, dark mahogany brown coloured pour with a lasting light tan head. Aroma is solventy, hot alcohol with vanilla bean, oak and roast. Flavour is composed of very smooth rounded orast, vanilla and nutty praline. Nice smooth choclate malts nad some tangy fruits. Palate is medium full with highish carbonation. Nice!
