We allowed a red fife wheat saison to mingle with five hundred pounds of chardonnay grapes from Devine Vineyards for 18 months in our foeder. Refermentation with Brettanomyces has resulted in a beer bursting with notes of berry, white wine and funk, a true farmhouse ale!

Nice cloudy gold body and zero foam. Nice wood and wine character aroma, a little thin, saison not pronounced. Tastes of a nice wood character, tart white wine, but missing a good saison kick to help expand it. So, it ends narrow and looking for cereal like me tomorrow morning with my hangover.

A lightly hazed golden saison with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light Brett, light lactic notes, light grapeskins, musty notes, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light fruity esters, light Brett, light lactic notes, light cork, very nice. On tap at brewery.

On tap at Category 12, pours a hazy golden yellow with a tiny white head. Aroma has some fusel alcohols, subdued white wine, and a bit of earthy funk. Flavour has buttery notes from the Chardonnay, with spicy saison yeast, a bit of wild earthiness, and dry toasted grains. The buttery Chardonnay character comes through decently, but I'm not sure about the wild yeast presence here — it's a bit earthy and muddled. Good effort, but it doesn't seem like it is what it could be.
