Maple Porter. Acadian Groove emerges from the changing tempo of Spring in rural Ontario. The sweet, sappy change from bitter Winter brings such incredible joy to the thawing Ontarians, it demands a beer in celebration. Brewed with Ontario maple syrup from friends at Breedon’s Maple Farm in Alliston, Acadian Groove honours two solid Canadian icons: Maple Syrup and Craft Beer

Bottle: Poured a murky brown color ale with a medium dirty brown foamy head with some retention and light lacing notes. Aroma of huge maple notes with some woody flavours and quite a bit of residual sugar notes. Taste is a mix of caramelized malt with loads of residual sugar with dominant maple flavours and some woody and vanilla notes also noticeable. Body is full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol notes. Huge beer with actually good level of complexity though too much residual sugar for my own taste.

750 ml bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours hazy dark brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of huge caramel, maple, toffee, fudge, vanilla, molasses, brown sugar, chocolate, cocoa, toasted brown bread, and nuttiness; with light coffee, fig, date, herbal, wood, and roast/toasted earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, maple syrup, and light earthy hop/yeast ester notes; with great strength. Taste of huge caramel, maple, toffee, fudge, vanilla, molasses, brown sugar, chocolate, cocoa, toasted brown bread, and nuttiness; with light coffee, fig, date, herbal, wood, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, maple, toffee, fudge, vanilla, molasses, brown sugar, chocolate, cocoa, toasted brown bread, nuttiness, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, maple syrup, and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly slick/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with only a slight warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an insane imperial porter! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance dark/roast/bready malt, maple syrup, and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV. A highly amazing offering all around; insane amounts of maple presence and complexities.

Bottle sampled at a tasting. Dark caramel pour, small tan head. Smells of burnt caramel, maple syrup, creme brulee. Tastes lie caramel, hazelnut cappuccino, instant coffee, walnuts, maple syrup. Sweet and slightly bitter from the roastness. Medium to light body and low carbonation. An excellent porter.
