Schokoladiger Beginn. Viel Ananas im Geruch, etwas weniger im Geschmack, vollmundig. Ziemlich trocken, würzig, Kokosnuss kommt immer mal wieder durch. Erhöhte Karbonisierung, nur dadurch etwas unsüffig. Nett. 9/11/8/10/9/9

Can at Brewdog Brussels Monday 3rd October 2022. Pours black or thereabouts with a cappuccino coloured head, pina colada on the nose, smells great. A little bit too sweet but tastes as it should, however toasted coconut (macaroon) is bigger than the pineapple in the mouth.

Pineapple- and coconut-flavoured porter by BrewDog; from tap at BrewDog Brussels. Pale greyish white, moussy, shred-lacing head, clear deep cola brown robe with vermillion red glow – notably lighter and more red than the average porter. Aroma of caramel, blackberry coulis, cola, indeed (canned) coconut mimk, almond, Chocotoff candy, hazelnut oil, strawberry Fruitella rather than pineapple (strangely), vanilla, rainwater, minerals. Sweet, bit bubblegummy, slick onset, hints of blackberry jam and pear syrup (sirop de Liège), sharpish carb but inherently very smooth mouthfeel; toffeeish, lightly (milk-)chocolatey, peanut-buttery middle, quite thinnish and straightforward, indeed carrying a lot of retronasal coconut but much less pineapple (if any!), though this is probably for good in this case. Cola- and coconut-like finish with only a very faint dash of herbal hops. Feels like a flavoured soda of some kind rather than a true porter: oddly slick and sweet, bubblegummy, cola-like and easily drinkable, totally lacking in structure, texture and purity for any kind of porter; on top of that, it delivers it promises only half, as the coconut is clear enough but the pineapple is much harder to find. Weird – this may well be the last chance I have given this company, which evolved from uncompromising innovation to commercially hollowing out and leveling of quality of the whole ‘craft beer’ idea.

You can smell and taste the pineapple and coconut.... Does this make it a tasty beer? Nope...

Tap@BrewDog Outpost Tower Hill, London (04/08/2022) - Sweet with notes of vanilla and big prominent coconut, some sweet toffee and caramel underneath, creamy malty medium plus body, coconut infused malty close. Coconut abit OTT unbalanced for me.
