We hand-selected a decadent imperial stout that had been laid to rest amongst Heaven Hills bourbon barrels for up to 12 months, imparting the richness and depth of the barrel during it's slumber. While this beer hones in on notes of rich dark chocolate, warm vanilla lattes, and hints of charred oak, we turned the cool level up with a few large doses of peppermint for those candy cane enthusiasts that need more than just something to crunch on. All in all, this release is reminiscent of melted peppermint patties swirled into a generous cup of bourbon kissed hot chocolate all wrapped up in a can and... if anyone can, the Candy Man can!

12oz @ Alex's. Appearance: dark brown with a beige head. Aroma: intense peppermint, sweet, like a candy. Oh well. Taste: along the same lines. Good body and sweetness level, even some American oak on the background. Overall: I wish it wouldn't be that on the candy side, but in terms of the execution, I believe it is nicely done. It's just not what I would like to drink. P.S. If you drink it with closed nose, then you can find less mint and more American oak 🤣 The only issue - it's hard to swallow 😬🙃

Jet black with a rich light brown head. Peppermint and chocolate. Rich chocolate and light mint. So well balanced, chocolate and mint. Solid.

355 ml can. Pours a very dark brown with light head. Aromas of chocolate mints. Flavors of industrial peppermint ( more like mouthwash), chocolate and oily roasted malts. An interesting experiment but extreme.

330mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Nose is huge on the peppermint -- that's really intense; the bourbon is much further back, even almost entirely subdued. Flavour is a little less monolithic on the peppermint, but that is still the feature flavour; the bourbon is there in the background. A big peppermint bomb, with a bit of cocoa on the finish. I really am not a fan of peppermint, but this works decently well. Perhaps my least favourite of the anniversary BA stouts, but this is still solid.

Dark brown, hilarious candy can aroma. Chocolate and candy canes. Ok it’s cute but oh man this is more goofy than I can imagine.

Poured from the tap. Pitch black with full tan head. Aroma of very dominant peppermint. Lots of mint, some chocolate and hint of bourbon. Candy cane mint overpowers. Completely unbalanced, yet tasty.

The mint didn't fade at all, stronger in the aroma, peppery in the flavour; the underlying imperial stout is well done as usual; round flavours.

Black colour. Aroma of mint and chocolate. Full bodied, sweet, prominent mint flavour, followed by chocolate sauce, Bourbon, alcohol warmth. Not as elegant and nuanced as a minty Modern Times RIS I had recently, but the opulent residual sweetness saves it. Funny, but I don't need to stock up.
