Creamy light brown head left a spotty cover on a reddish brown still body. Caramel, toffee & demerara aroma. Medium bodied, fluffy in the mouth with well carbonated back. Toffee, caramel, malt, smoky, nut & spicy tastes with lovely tangy finish.

Cask at the three johns. Pours clear deep amber, nose is smoky, cheesy, grassy, taste is quite sweet, hay, smoky, pretty weird.

Cask-conditioned at the Express Tavern, Brentford 17/11/2016. Deep brown in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. brown sugar, berry fruits and toasted malt aroma. Flavour had more caramel sweetness, malt loaf, and red berries before a rich, slightly smoky finish. Good.

Bottle (many thanks to Mr.Rudat for this sample!!):Mahagony coloured, clear, small persistent off-white foamy layer; moderate sweet-bitter nose of dried fruits or raisins, port-wine-like caramel and some subdued medical hops, traces of wood and caramel detectable as well; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; lingering sweet-bitter finish with fruits, caramel and a mild alcohol-burn in the aftertaste. A nice winter-warmer...

On cask at the Royal Oak. Smooth and fresh malty beginning. Hints of fruit, smooth and fresh. Spicy orange in the background, smooth and nice malty body. The aftertaste is round and fresh, malt, caramel and spices. Nice!

Cask@Charlies Bar, Copenhagen - brown pour with a reddish hue. Aroma and taste is strong malty, some slight toasty notes, medium sweet, caramel, treacle, some dark fruity notes, some herbal hoppy nuances into the sweet malty finish. Very nice. ---Sent via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Harvey’s. Didn’t realise this was such a whale until I chugged the whole thing! It pours clear mahogany brown with a minimal. The nose is rich, malty, brown bread, raisin, sultana, fruit cake, berry, earth, wood, toffee. The taste is bitter-sweet, toasty, roasted nuts, burnt toffee, dried fruits (particularly raisin), fruit cake, earth, wood, touch of alcohol and touch of spice with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty impressive stuff, especially considering that its pasteurised.

Cask at the White Horse. It pours clear deep brown with a small off-white head. The nose is fruit cake, oily, wood, varnish, honeycomb, toast and tangy marmalade. The taste is wood, earth, marmalade, varnish, toffee, raisin, sultana, honey, oily, fruit cake with a dry finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Very nice marmalade character going on. Pretty tasty.

Rating from 2012: Dunkelbraune Farbe, fast weißer Schaum. --> 12,13,12,14,12,14 - 13,25
