Bonfire Boy is brewed seasonally for the November 5th celebrations that Lewes is renowned for. Originally called ’Firecracker’ and brewed to commemorate the gallant work of the Fire Brigade during the fire at the brewery in July 1996. The label depicts the uniform of the Cliffe Fire Brigade circa 1880.

A dark amber beer with a full malty palate and a slightly burnt, bitter aftertaste. A small quantity of black malt is used to impart the suggestion of smoke.

Half-pint, gravicask, shared with Finn at The International Brewing & Cider Festival 2024. Deep copper coloured body, low beige head, fair lacing. Inviting aromas with toasted malts with scent of caramel, lightly roasted. Fine balanced taste of caramel malts and dried fruits. Earthy malts to the ending, lightly roasted. Fine depth to it. Like it. (Manchester, 23.03.2024).

Cask-conditioned at the Express Tavern, Brentford 17/11/2016. Deep brown in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. brown sugar, berry fruits and toasted malt aroma. Flavour had more caramel sweetness, malt loaf, and red berries before a rich, slightly smoky finish. Good.
