Sampled anno 2019 at the 1y birthday bash from station 1280 . Shared by raf, from a sablered 6l bottle. Pours unclear amberblonde, small white head. Smell is full, intense ( barrel ) , oak, creamy ( for a lambic ) . Taste is full, tart, oak, intense, full, girardin is recognizable here. i like this way more than I remember ( or rated ) the one I had at night of the great thirst. maybe that was a different year ( didnt keep track of that earlier on ) , maybe by the age, the bottle size, the moment … ?

From bottle at MBCC 2018, yellow session.
Orange, hazy body, with a medium, fluffy, yellowish head.
Aroma of barnyard funk, stone fruits, horse blanket, basement, citrus, apples.
Tastes similar, with some more vinous notes.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes medium sour, dry, wooden, fruity, with basement.
Really tasty! Lovely rustic, funky notes throughout, while still really smooth and fresh, greatly balanced. Very characterful stuff.

Bottle at Koelschip. Pours a hazy orange gold with small white head that diminises quickly. The aroma is funk, oak, apple skin, floral. Thin body, sweet grape, oak, light funk, very nice.

(Bottle sample @ MBCC 2017 Red Session, Copenhagen) Pours lightly hazed orange with a small white head. Notes of sweet grapes, apples, leathery oak, attic, citrusy acidity, barnyard funk, oxidized Madeira quality, hay, touches of yeasty spice. Rather sweet through the sip but with a sour edge and somewhat tannic dryness taking over on the finish. Medium bodied, smooth, softly carbonated. I think my second favourite of the series, the Madeira expression here was very nicely integrated and complementary.

How: Bottle.
Where: Akkurat, Stockholm.
Appearance: Clear light amber colour with a minimal head.
Aroma: Some funk, a bit sour, fruit, vinous.
Body: Medium body, flat carbonation.
Flavour: Some funk, balanced, sweet, vinous, fruit.
Comment: A bit too balanced. Nothing that sticks out, just a smooth slightly sour taste. Might be a good beer for introduction to the style since it isn’t that extreme.

Bottle at Akkurat, vintage 2015. Pours clear amber. Aroma is funky, damp, sweetish barrel, apples. Body is medium, rather sweet for a gueuze and with a low acidity too. Fizzy carbonation. Really unusually sweet, almost an introductory gueuze. Very balanced, to the point where it loses its edge, becoming almost non-gueuze. I like.
