Bottle. Black pour, large dark brown head. Aroma is like the others, roasty, sticky sweet, loads of dark coffee, and soy notes, with some very dark, charred, roasty fruit. Mouth feel is oily, and silky with a soft carb. Finish is medium bitter, fruitier than the other iterations, earthy barrel notes, light spice. These stouts are ok, but are not as good as anticipated.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 30A: cinnamon and vanilla / 33B: apple brandy / 20C). Bottle 50 cl (best before and batch number not specified - 2019 vintage). AROMA: initial medium-low brandy notes with a vinous characteristic mixed with medium to medium-high cocoa, medium vanilla and slight fruitiness. very faint cinnamon. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. medium to low light-brown head, creamy, with good retention. leg formation. TASTE: medium-high notes of cocoa, vanilla and medium vinous-like brandy character. medium bitterness with a dry finish with notes of roasted coffee. MOUTHFELL: full body and velvety with medium-low carbonation. smooth alcohol warmth without being hot. OVERALL: another outstanding 5050 brew where only one of the ingredients seems to be absent (cinnamon).

2016 Bottle into a wine tumbler showing dark brown with sparse latte colored foam.

The nose shows moderately intense notes of molasses and honey with tea.

The palate is moderately carbonated and medium bodied. Lightly sweet with moderately intense flavors of honey, tsubuan, and coffee with a mild espresso bitterness.

2017 bottle from the cellar. Pours very dark brown with a brown head. Sweet chocolate, warming alcohol and cinnamon aroma. Flavor is similar to aroma, with a really nice alcohol warmth aspect. Cinnamon rolls. Chewy and fills the tongue like a sponge. Full bittersweet chocolate as it warms.
