Bottle from Wijnegemse Drankenhal. Apparently a fresh-hopped tripel, with thick and frothy, off-white, ’papery’ lacing, very stable head and initially clear, amberish-tinged peach blonde robe, a tad darker than average for a tripel, turning misty with sediment. Aroma of peach, banana liqueur, camomile, frangipane, yellow raspberries, melting powder sugar, white pepper, jasmin flowers, almond, ’jenever’, bubblegum. Very estery onset, peach, pineapple, banana and ripe sweet gooseberries with a light sourish touch, fizzy carbo, soft and fluffy mouthfeel. Caramelly and bready malt sweet middle, while a white candi syrup-like sweetness lingers and even cloys a bit in the end; floral and bit earthy finish, where this weird jasmin-like sweet perfume rises up retronasally, some spicy hop bitterness but very mildly so, followed by (a bit too) obvious, ’jenever’-like alcohol, very warming, though not as wry on the tongue as I had feared. Sweet tripel with an unusual, but not unpleasant sweet perfumeyness to it - which obviously has nothing to do with either green- or dry-hopping, as a ’serious’ hop character to balance out the sweetness is weirdly (i.e. in spite of what is announced on the back label) as good as lacking. Enjoyable alright, but not what it promises to be.

23/IV/17 - sample @ Zythos Bier Festival 2017 (Leuven) - BB: n/a (2017-535) Thanks to kraddel for sharing today's beers!
Clear orange beer, creamy solid off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: caramel, sweet, sugary, almonds. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sourish, malty, grains, orange peel, sweet, sugary touch. Aftertaste: bitter, yeast, malty, some caramel. Decent beer, quite liked it!
