This beer pours brownish-black with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes slowly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of piney hops and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of toasted malt, resiny hops and a bit of chocolate. The finish is hoppy up front with a roasty malt aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

65 cl bottle vintage 2011 @ hotel room, Las Vegas
Aroma is floury with some resin and vanilla. Flavour is sweetish with resin, fruits, hints of vanilla and coffee. Ashy and dry finish. Slightly too much on the sweet side, but rather good anyway.
The D and G on the label were on top of each other and I never understood

Bottle @ Dan’s house, courtesy of doodler. Thanks Scott! A bit orangish, quite dark brown appearance with a light brown head. Chocolate, minty/herbal, a bit earthy, somewhat piney aroma. Rich dark chocolate, marshmallow, vanilla, a bit smoky, earthy/herbal hoppy flavor. Delicious chocolate flavor. Really a nice beer.

22oz bomber pours deep mahogany with infra red edges and a nice tan head. The aroma offers up some spicy black licorice, dark roasted malts and then some pine hops in the background. The taste is wow, great black IPA, where I get chewy sticky malt infused pine hops mixing with modest levels of dark roasted malts and just a dash of burnt malts. Beneath these notes is a thin layer of citrus hop flavor and a lesser amount of citrus hop bitterness banging around in the background. Yummy fully hop forward version of the style. Dig it!

Bomber from Country Club Liquors but I had it on draft at Drakes Barrel House in Nov. Nose is pine, light chocolate, a little smokiness, and hints of citrus. Pitch dark (according to Drake’s Imperial Dark IPA name but I would call it black myself) with a small lightly lacing beige head. Flavor is heavy bitterness, pine, and a charred smokiness in the background. Finishes pretty bitter but bitter is better with IPAs.

Draught @ Amsterdam Cafe, San Francisco, CA
Pours pitch black with a medium smooth light brown head. Quite light aroma of slightly roasted malts, hops, licorice, burnt leather and ash. Taste is quite fruity with roasty notes, hints of pine, grass and licorice. Salty, bitter finish with a lot of hops. Quite nice black IPA that isn’t overly roasty or hoppy.

Bottle thanks to Joe. Pours black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces just a bit. Aroma has a good amount of roast with a bit of chocolate and just a hint of backing pine. Flavor starts with dark grains and roast but finishes with a good amount of pine and just a hint of grass.

Bomber from The Davis Beer Shoppe in Davis, CA. Pours dark brown with garnet hilites and a 4 finger creamy tan head. Aroma of resin with some unusual light fruits - maybe tropical. Full bodied. Flavor is resin with a small touch of chocolate and smooth dark/toast malt. And that fruit is still in the background. Guava? Not good on tropical fruit. It’s very nice. Quite bitter, but enough fruit to make it interesting/enticing. Brilliant, even.

Draft. Ruby-mahogony beer with a light tan head. Grapefruit and caramel aroma with cocoa. Chocolate/cocoa flavor with grapefruit and pine. Medium bodied. Grapefruti and light cocoa lingers with light pine.

On tap at Blue Palms. Pours with a completely black body with a large and fully retentive tan head. Great lace. Aromas are of pine and dank hops, lots of fruit notes. Malt is roasty, bready with some nut shells. Flavors are roasty, molasses, and coffee. Pine, dank, tropical fruit and citrus. Lasting bitterness. To be honest, this is very solid fresh. Lively bubbles, dry. Nice hop profile and not too roasty (thankfully).
