Great minds think alike and that’s how we got our Sassy Threesome: prototripel. Rodney, JS & Luca came up with the name.
Threesomes are naughty by nature, but ours is exceptionally sassy! It’s filled to the brim with loads of saaz hops. A noble hop variety in an indecent context.
cheers!!

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is yeasty with floral notes, overripe sugary fruit, alcohol, malt, bit soapy, and relatively noticeable noble hops. Flavour is sweet with a mild but (again) noticeable bitterness for a Tripel, as well as some booze. Body is above medium. Sweet and boozy, a bit sharp rather than smooth, but overall fairly enjoyable.

33cl bottle at home (27 VI 2021), as Sassy Threesome. This is Kompaan's "prototripel", and it seemingly is an archetype of a bland tripel brew - a beer style every brewer makes sooner rather than later. Thank god, this one is not as dull as the average tripel. The looks are OK, I guess: orange coloured clear brew, with golden gloom and with a swiftly diminishing white collar on top. The nose has few sweetish malt notes with lingering oranges fruits, perhaps some apricots too. There is a strong jenever effect in the nose as well, already hinting at a generous ABV. The body has lots of honey and booziness in it, making up for a sweet and alcoholic tongue, with little carbonation and a long finish which almost seems to conclude in a ginger or anise fashion. In the mouthfeel, the malt features and even the yeast hints are restrained, only slightly referring to bread and wheat. Only a vague honey feature kicks in. This spirits-bomb is just too overwhelming for the beer to portray a varied and omnifarious tasting palate.

Golden colour with quick fading head. Most notably this one has a thick oily texture. Loads of malt body. Not overly sweet. Misses some depth though

Pours hazy golden with a lasting, small, foamy, off-white head. Aroma of ripe apricot, banana, honey, white bread, jenever. Taste has sweet banana, apricot, estery & bready malty profile, some bitter spices, grain, yeasty effect. Grassy hoppy finish, more ripe fruit & warming jenever-like alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Easily forgettable Tripel.
