Bottle at JF’s, thanks to he, 03/11/13. Clear golden amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is toasty malts, summer fruit, grass, light spice, toffee. Taste comprises toffee, lightly toasted malts, bitter fruits, grass. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry and grassy in a bittersweet finale. Adequate GB.

Copper colour. It’s a fairly unoffensive but plain bitter. Nice balance of malt and hops but a bit lacking in flavour and rather thin and watery.

Cask handpull at the Wetherspoons in Kingston. Reddish amber colour. Hogs Back yeasty aroma, plenty of deep red berry fruit in mouth and then harsh, but balanced brambly hedgerow hop finish that lasted for a good 5 minutes in the mouth. Malts are hedgerow and berry fruits that are juicy and mix well with this harsh hop finish.

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Chstnut with a deep creamy beige head; citrus aromas; fruity and sharp with a predominantly orange flavour, but smooth and creamy and easy to drink; leaves a lingering bitterness.
