Bottle from Lidl, Longford [100617]
Dark amber, crystal clear, frothy white head
Aroma of soft caramel, light toasted malt notes, soft earthy twiggy hops
Taste as aroma, soft bitter twiggy English hops, plain stuff
Palate - Soft carb, light body, soft sweet and bitter. FInish as main flavour, light bitter linger
Overall - Simple brown bitter, unmemorable, refreshing enough but rather dull

Pours slightly hazy coppery color, topped with a small just slightly off-white head, immediately disappearing. Sweet malty nose, biscuity with molasses. Nicely bittery, easy, with some noticeable malty backbone. Quite lasting bittery aftertaste. Medium body. Balanced. Like promised - a fine thirst quencher in proper bitter style.

Bottle from Tesco, Borehamwood. Amber red with a small head. Has a slightly thin texture, but a drinkable one with a small rye maltiness and a light bitterness.

A typical English bitter with a nice dark copper colour, a malty flavour and a surprising and, to me, unwelcome sweetness. It certainly ticked all of the expected boxes, but I found that sweetness offputting. There needed to be more bitterness to this bitter!

First rating, 19/3/2016, RB score 6/3/5/3/11 (2.8). Bottle, gift from the Outlaws- cheers! Amber-brown with a middling off-white head. Moderate fizz. Chocolate, toffee and fruit are hidden behind a lot of cardboard. There’s a decent bitter fighting to get out here, but unfortunately the cardboard wins the battle. Shame. Second rating, 19/8/2017, RB score 7/4/5/2/10 (2.8). Bottle from the Outlaws again - cheers! Deep amber with a beige head and a light fizz. Good rich malty aroma, but the flavour has lighter malt, some metal, and a rather slimy caramel finish. Fails to live up to the early promise.

Gylden brun klar med fingerhøyt beige skum. Lett malt og karamellukt. Lett bitter smak med noe karamellsødme. Kort, noe metallisk avsluttning.
