This one is a blend of three late-season 2009 fermentations, and the last of our first fermentation of 2008. The 2008 portion contains a lot Somerset Redstreak, one of the fruitier, softer bittersweets. The rest of the blend is strong to Dabinett, Yarlington Mill, Esopus Spitzenberg, Golden Russet, and Wickson. Bright acid, soft tannins, and lots of nice peach, melon, citrus, tropics, and body. We’re pretty sure this is a good one.

Draft @ Good Beer. Bottles from Astor Wines. MGD color. Very bubbly. Constant froth. Smells of sweet sweat, sulfur, browned skins, & vanilla. Taste is a bit tart, but edging towards bittersweet pith, if just a touch sweeter. Some creaminess & bigger then average body. Sprinkling of yeast. Low-key tannins. Well mannered alcohol. Dry, citrusy acidic finish. Not really crisp, but bright. Better then other FH ciders I’ve had on draft, which seem to show better in bottles. Speaking of, the bottled version of this(which their rep insisted is the same batch), was drier, with longer citrus finish, & much better, microbeaded carbonation. Pretty good either way.
