12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market P Street, Washington, DC. Pours a clear copper color with a thin fizzy tan head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of toasted malts, caramel and faint hops. The taste is tart fruity notes, caramel, toasted malts. Medium bodied. Not very nut-brownish.

On tap. Poured a clear amber brown with a light tan head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of sweet grains and chocolate with underlying notes of nuts and toffee. Flavor began with light chocolate, nuts and toffee that mellowed slightly to a dark grain and hay finish.

12 oz bottle got from LiteWait. Ruby brown in glass. Light thin head and it leaves very nice lacing in the snifter I used. Non-existent aroma and taste is mild. Very light malty taste with a hop finish. Smooth yet uninteresting. The flavor punch was left in the mud.

Bottle from PCC market in Fremont, WA. Pours dark amber with a foamy beige head. Mild malt aroma. Light body. Light carb. Light flavor. But good flavor. Pretty much a light dark malt brown ale kind of flavor. None of the usual earthiness of a brown, but a nice flavor. Goes down real easy. In some ways the flavor suggests stout. Don’t know where that came from.

Bottle: Bright and transparent dark caramel color with two fingers of creamy khaki head. Aroma is roasty, earthy, and nutty. Gives the impression of a dry roastiness. Tastes nutty and earthy with some toffee. The roasted malt isn’t as prominent as expected. Retains a nice toffee and caramel sweetness before the nuts and earthy bits in the tail. Nice little session ale.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a small frothy beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is a sweet fruit malt with caramel. Medium mouthfeel with a rich malt with caramel and fruit. Very easy to drink, a very god brown ale from Redhook.
