On tap at the brewery October 2014. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head. The aroma is strong oak, grape, figs. Thick body, vinous, figs, nice tartness, very nice.

6 oz taster, served in a tulip at the Avery tasting room in Boulder, Colorado. The pour is hazed reddish brown with a smallish off white head. The aroma is big red wine notes, oak wood, along with soft lactic sourness and a touch of fruit (grape) sweetness. The taste shows more sour and lactic vinegar tartness than the nose right away, though the sour edge mellows as the beer opens up, showing the oak wood along with the fruit of the grape, along with a mild roastiness. The palate is medium bodied, soft natural carbonation, and a dry vinegar sour finish. Nice beer.
