I’ve not tried a peanut butter stout, it will be new to me. As will be the brewer although I have made a couple of brewery sweeps through Austin. This 12 oz bottle came from the nice people at The Cellar in Odessa. I have it cooled off and will use my ABGB (another Austin brewer) snifter for the sampling. The presentation is proper, an ink black body with a thin sliver of foam around the rim. I lift for a smell, chocolate and the barest indication of nuts of some kind. And the taste, not bad, just not getting the expected peanut butter thing. The chocolate again, wood, ash, raspberry and a slight medicinal effect. Wish the peanut deal was more obvious.

12 oz. bottle purchased in San Antonio, TX. Pours a pitch black color with a huge light tan head and great retention. Decent lacing. Faint dark roasted coffee and cocoa aroma. The taste follows the nose. Dark roasted coffee base flavor layered with a light cocoa and lighter dry peanut butter background flavor. Strange tangy foreign stout finish. Not sweet. The more I have, the more I dislike. Disappointing. At least the 8.0% ABV is well hidden.

Tap at Whip in, Austin. Opaque black color, small steady beige head. Aroma has chocolate and cocoa. Medium-bodied. Toasted, coffee, vanilla, peanut butter. Smooth sweetish, a bit too messy mix of flavours.

On nitro at Conservatory. Pours black with medium creamy tan head that lasts. The aroma is cocoa, roast, peanut butter. Thin mouth, roast, cocoa, light peanuts, rich, bready malt, good.

Draft at Sample. On nitro. Last off white head retention on top a black liquid. Aroma is charred grain, mild nuts. The mouthfeel is creamy but lacks in the body. Lean side of medium. I feel like it needs more roast to help with the peanut butter flavor. Not bad, it does show the peanut butter flavor, a little more roast and this could really improve it overall. Nice to sample.
