Bottle at RateBeer Best. Pours a cloudy copper with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is oak, yeast, pure sugar. Medium body, dark fruit, oak, light tartness, good.

550 ml to go bottle purchased at Coffee District Beer and Wine Bar in Delray Beach, Florida. The pour is haze copper brown golden with a 1/4 inch lasting tan head. The aroma is big malty sweet and yeast fruit, with some vanilla showing as the beer warmed. The taste is fruit lactic yeast dominant up front, than sweet toffee malt behind. The house Hitachino yeast notes are present as well. Nice depth of character - tannic. The palate is medium to heavy bodied soft carbonation, and a lingering integrated alcohol in the finish. The lactic fruit and vanilla sweetness linger. Unique flavors.

Stewed apple and date aroma with a distinct tomato component. Hazy ochre, medium yellow head. Flavor is again vegetal, stewed apple is dominant. Lightly spiced, but not cinnamon, maybe clove. Fizzy and filmy mouthfeel. Overripe apple peel finish. For its historical value, the bottle will definitely be added to my trophy collection. Few beers have as interesting a story as this one. The liquid, on the other hand, is its own tragedy of sorts. It isn’t horrible, but it isn’t quite right.

Bottle from Beer Run. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber color with a large creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Tart aroma with notes of caramel, plum, stone fruits and spice. The taste is caramel malts, tart fruits, soy, spice, lemongrass. Medium bodied. Interesting.

Murky amber-brown. Not much head. Has a sweet-tart aroma with an understated , indistinct character. Slight tartness and as a murky taste. Some alcohol. This never really goes anywhere. It was a batch gone wrong, and should have been dumped. Instead, they slapped a label on it and ripped off their loyal fans. Embarrassing, and I have lost respect for Kiuchi Brewery for doing this.

Pours deep mahogany into a tulip. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Sour caramel and yeast aromas. Thick with sweet caramel and toffee upfront to vanilla and pit fruit in the lasting earthy finish.
