The Fighter - potężnie nachmielone Imperial IPA o jasnej barwie i wysokiej zawartości alkoholu. Amerykańskie odmiany chmielu uderzają aromatem żywicy i cytrusów. W smaku wyprowadzają goryczkowy cios, wzmocniony wytrawnym charakterem piwa. Słód pszeniczny zapewnia mu jednak odpowiednią pełnię i gładkość.

Cloudy amber, off white head. Sweet, tropical fruit aroma. Taste is more bitter. Stone fruit and grassy citrus with just a hint of the tangy sweetness lending some balance.

33cl bottle from the Beer52 box for July. A hazy amber pour with a thick cream coloured head; aroma of malts, bitter orange peel and some spicy yeast; surprisingly smooth and gentle in the mouth with a strong resinous bitterness, orange peel and tangerine; well hidden alcohol in the finish - it doesn't catch the throat, and warms the belly very nicely. Overall an unexpectedly good IPA.

On tap at 4 Hops, pours a cloudy dark amber orange with a small beige head. Nose is on the malty side, with sweet caramel malts, bready malt, and resinous hops. Flavour follows accordingly, with sweet caramel malts and resinous hops both quite prominent in there, but not in good harmony. You get lots of clashing bitter notes with rather intense sweetness. It's not bad, but not an upper tier IIPA.

Polish double IPA from one of the now countless artisanal breweries in the country, this one located in Krakov. From a 50 cl bottle purchased at Bierhalle Deconinck (I think...). Hopped with Simcoe, Citra and Tomahawk at an impressive 120 IBU. Irregular, lightly lacing, bubbly, egg-white head, settling into a moussy rim with dots in the middle, over a lightly hazy, orange golden beer with amberish tinge. Evidently very hoppy, very ’dank’ bouquet of moldy old orange peel, grapefruit juice, marihuana, olive oil, fried onions, old garlic, dried mango, biscuit, rainwater, paprika powder, lightly toasted bread, dandelions, fennel seed, stale sweat, crushed almond, wakame, exotic pepper, bitterroot liqueur. Fruity yet clean onset, mango and blood orange sweetness with a thin sourish edge, green olive-like umami aspects somewhere, accents of hop bitterness apparent early on; oily, slick mouthfeel, carbonation on the soft side, even for the style. Does not physically feel like a near-9%-ABV beer, actually. Soft biscuity and bit nutty malt sweet underground, well in balance with an evidently very firm, robust but highly aromatic hop character, providing a deep grapefruity and herbal bitterness on the root of the tongue as well as retronasal oniony, piney and citrussy aromas, outspokenly dank but not to the extent that it is not refreshing anymore. Especially the Simcoe is nicely accentuated - and I’m a sucker for this variety, so this is my cup of tea... Resiny, notably peppery and oily hop bitterness lingers on top of juicy malt sweetness, with a ’highlight’ of warming, gin-like alcohol in the end, clearly noticeable but not interrupting the play of maltiness and strong hoppiness. Technically well done, could perhaps benefit from an even slightly thicker biscuity maltiness, a bit more carbonation and even more oily and aromatic hoppiness to meet the standards of the intended imperial IPA style, but certainly elegant and satisfying, though not world top in comparison with the great American examples. This new generation of Polish craft brewers never ceases to pleasantly surprise me. A fighter indeed!

Bottle. Pours cloudy darkish amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of hops and citrus, with malty and especially estery and bready notes. Round, sweetish flavour of fruit and malt, with bready hints and bitter notes if hops and citrus. Boozy and estery aftertaste with fruity hints. Okay. Potent but could be more rewarding.

Hazy amber - gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and fairly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth malts, fairly sweet, trace of caramel. Hops bring orange marmalade and tangerine. Riper orange and crystallised orange - tangerine. Sweet pine. Trace of lime. Light finish leaves a ripe fruity linger. Tidy.
