750 ml bottle into wine glass, this was a gusher as soon as I opened it, didn’t lose too much beer. Pours hazy golden amber color with a dense 1 finger white head with good retention that reduces to a thin lacing cap. Decent lacing clings to the glass as well. Aromas of apple cider, apple skin, brandy booziness, and a bit of spice. Interesting aromas with good strength. Taste of huge slightly tart apples, apple skin, honey, spiciness, and a bit of citrus. Lingering notes of spice, apple, and citrus sweetness on the finish. No bitterness noticed, as expected for a tripel. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied. Alcohol is well hidden in the taste, with only a slight warming on the finish noticed. Very smooth drinking as well for being 10%. Nice balance of flavors without having too much sweetness. Overall, and excellent tripel, a little to boozy in the nose, but the taste tells a whole different story.

Bottle. A finger-thick, dense, off-white head tops the almost clear, golden body. Apples, apple booze, more apples and a tiny touch of funk in the aroma, rather delicious. The flavor has a little sourness and alcohol, little alcohol considered the ABV. Funky hints and lots of apple too. Warming on the palate, full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated. There’s some bitterness in the finish, which as the rest of the experience is dominated by apples. A very tasteful and unusual beer, yummy. 110204

750 ml bottle. Slightly dim yellow body with a big white head. Aroma mild fruity and spicy, still feels complex and very appealing. Flavor has a lot in common with apple cider, the style that tastes of ripe apples. There is also some sweet malt and evident alcohol. This one is kind of mild but complex with lots of distinct flavors at the same time. Very nice.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Whole Foods (Bowery), 3/10/11
Aroma: The nose has sour apples, booze, wood, vanilla, and some spice
Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a finger of white head and frothy lace
Flavor: The taste has some sweetness, big sour fruitiness, and a lightly spice hop finish
Palate: The body is medium-to-full with a rich mouthfeel and some heat to it
Overall Impression: This is some interesting stuff. I can't say that I ever remember drinking anything quite like this one before. It is fairly complex, and it has a lot going on. They are not kidding with the whole apple brandy thing either, you can certainly tell that presence is there. The up-front sweetness, the sour fruits, and the hot finish make for a strange combination. Honestly, I don't know how to feel about this one. My rating could probably have gone 20 different ways. With every sip my opinion changed on this one, but ultimately I settled here. Give it credit for it's uniqueness, that is a trait more beers could aspire toward.

Grabbed a bottle at whole foods bowery. Pours a dirty blond with bright white soapy head. Smells amazingly good of apple orchards. Taste is appley tart, like green apples, with some white grapes, the brandy is there for warming and some yeasts for good measure. Really refreshing/delicious and makes me miss the fall on this horrible winter wednesday.

Bottle from Cakanator. Pours tarnished gold with a frothy white head. Smells a lot like fresh apples - with skin. Med body. A bit of heat. Flavor is brandyish, with some spice (pepper) and apple essences. A bit like sipping brandy or perhaps sherry. It’s pepper in the finish, and somewhat astringent.

Medium coarseish head. Hazy yellow body. Spicy floral apple aroma with perfumy barnyard and spice notes. Complex and harmonic. Dry-sweet-acidic chalky vinegary fruity taste with peppery notes. Sharp, biting mouthfeel. Mid-bodied. Dry metallic fruity vinegary aftertaste with apple notes. Did not enjoy. (0.75l bottle, shared by gr0ve.)

Bottle thanks to ditmier. Pours out a cloudy golden color topped with a small white head. Aroma is of vanilla, wood, apple, and some sweetness. Taste all green apple upfront and then mellows with some sweetness and vanilla notes.
