Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a dark chestnut brown with a small off-white head and good lacing. Malts and spices in the aroma, but not over strong. In the mouth there’s an initial dry hoppiness which is quite offputting. Once this wears off, the main flavours are pumpkin and spices (cinnamon and cloves to the fore) over a caramel base. Finish is very dry and spicy. Not at all bad, but an acquired taste.

Bottle from Booths, Media City. Hazy copper-red with no head. Has a sweetened texture with a mild but still dominant ginger spice that’s slightly more stated in its taste than nose. It doesn’t feel 6%.

Bottle from Beers of Europe [240115]
Caramel brown, clear, fluffy off white head, good lacing
Aroma of soft spices, fruity caramel malt, gingerbread, soft Christmas cake spices, soft nose
Taste of fruity caramel malts, some raisin, soft spices as aroma, not overly spiced, soft dark fruits, no alcohol, nice soft caramel malts in this, simple flavours
Palate - soft carb, medium body, quite sweet. Finish as main flavour.
Overall - Easy drinking for the abv, good soft malts and the spices aren’t overdone. I enjoyed it.
