Our Berlin style White is to be served ice-cold and straight up – without syrup, of course! This refreshing sour beer is the perfect companion on a hot summer’s day. Even Napoleon fancied this beer style and called it “Champagne du Nord”. For real Berliners!

33cl bottle from Beer52.com. A hazy pale straw colour with a loose white head; grassy herbal aroma; smooth and slightly chalky in the mouth with a refreshingly sharp herbal bitterness; and then a cream soda like finish. A clean, crisp and refreshing beer, and presumably the authentic Berliner Weisse style, but I’ve grown so accustomed to Siren Calypso that I found this rather disappointing.

Bottle. Clear pale yellow color with big white head. Aroma is lacto, wheat, some fruit tartness, a bit lemony. Taste is a bit herbal, milky, wheat, a bit grainy as well. Sourness really holds back until the finish. Oily mouthfeel, low carbonation. A nice straightforward Berliner Weisse without bells and whistles.

Bottle from Craft Beer Kontor, Hannover. Nice fresh souring beginning. The beer is smooth and mild, the sourness is not too shy. Nice souring even in the aftertaste, refreshing and quite sour for this style. The smooth lactic-sourness is a bit low, a more vinegar/acid like sourness is dominating. Long mild and sour aftertaste. Interesting one.
