The St. Sebastiaan Golden is a golden, heavy fermented abbey beer with a distinctive fruity aroma and subtle hints of elaborately selected herbs. This St. Sebastiaan has a nice balance between sweet and bitter and has a nice full-bodied taste with a soft, malty aftertaste.

75cl bottle, labeled as grand cru. Pours unclear warm blonde. Small white head. Smell is sweet ( somewhat spiced sugary sweetness ) Taste is sharp, bit bitter. Definate sweet undertone ( Sugar, mild spices ) yeasty towards the end. Agressive carbonation that really triggers the bitterness. Somewhat malty underneath the other aspects. OK

Bottle (shared by suurjuust, thanks!). Pours golden with whiteish head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, fresh fruits, citrus, malt. Flavor follows the nose. Overall: good.

Bottle @ Home. Pours golden with a huge white head, lots of lively bubbles. Aroma of malt, light grainy, belgian yeast, light honey, sweet fruit. Flavor is light sweet, malty, yeast, candy sugar, light spice, light tartness, fruit, little alcohol. Medium body, very high carbonation, light warming alcohol. 110415

Gyllengul vätska med tjock fluffigt skum. Jästig doft med peppar och örter. Torr, stram smak med hög neutral beska. Lite kluven men lutar åt bra öl.

Pour is a hazy blonde with a large white head, Aroma is slightly fruity with a bit of pale malt in the backround. Flavor is super carbonated with a bit of fruit again and some wet paper bag malt. Finish is a sweetish fruit with more of a dull malt to follow. Nothing really good but it has a bit of fresh fruit and a cool ceramic stein you can save for future use.

Tripel-style ’kruikenbier’ by Sterkens, peach blond with fruity and lightly malty sweetness next to a certain yeastiness and mild herbal hops in the finish; I was a bit bothered by the thin, almost watery mouthfeel though, an ale this strong should have a lot more body. Not impressed.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Hazy almost opaque orangy color, medium sized white head. Smell malts, some fruityness, lightly sweet. Taste lightly malts, a slight fruityness, a bit more bitter in the flavor. Not bad.

Bottle @ home. Clear amber colour with a small to medium sized white head. Pretty active bubbles. Smells like delirium tremens.. Probably the yeast or something. Slightly sweet, malts, inflatable swimmingpool and a hint of fruits. Tastes like how I remember Delirium Tremens too. Reminds me of my younger days a bit. It’s been quite a while since I’ve had one though. Malts, yeast, sweetish, slightly herbs. Quite a bit of carbo, medium body. --- Beer aliased from original tick of St. Sebastiaan Grand Cru on 25 Oct 2019 at 21:46 - Score: 6. Original review text: Behoorlijk suikerig. Kei zoet dus.
