Six grain is our milk stout named for the number of different grains used in the grist. We brew a robust, roasty stout with dark chocolate undertones and add lactose sugar for a creamy mouthfeel and semi-sweet finish. Much like all of our beers we designed this one to be full flavored and complex yet highly drinkable.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to becher glass.
Appearance: dark brown very close to black in color with a two and a half fingers of eggshell white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: roasted malts, light dark chocolate notes, sweet grains, light notes of dark coffee and a little bit of cocoa powder with a little bit more warmth
Flavor: combines the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to roasty to semi-bitter sort of quality; finishes dry with cocoa powdery to dark coffee and dark chocoaltey tones
Texture: medium bodied, sessionable; good smoothness but also a little bit of coffee grinding into the tongue - mostly non-offensive
Overall: for the most part a pretty nicely done milk/sweet stout that seems a lot less sweet than many others of it's style.

Pours black into an English pint. Mocha head with excellent retneiont recedes leaving scant lacing. Dark cocoa, coffee and chicory aromas. Thick with smoked chocolate, licorice and dusty chicory front to back. Soft sour lactose and dirty licorice finish.

Can pour from a trade with AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! Appearance is opaque black with dark brown at absolute bottom of glass with no sparkle, 2-finger foamy light brown head with good retention and decent sudsy lacing. Aroma is strong bitter roasted malts--bordering on ash--with lactose and chocolate to balance it out. Taste is cream, bitter roasted malt (less bold than aroma) and chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with thick, creamy, frothy texture, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, strong all around with both sweet and bitter but balanced nicely. Overcarbonation detracts slightly.

Draft. Even tide Oyster bar. Black with an average tan head and nice lacing. Aroma is cocoa, roasted barley, lactose, and mild coffee.

Flavor is rich in dark chocolate, coffee with cream, and some bitter cocoa and maybe barley in the finish. Overall somewhat creamy and dry near the end. Some mild lingering sweetness from the lactose. Actually very good for under 7 %.

Draught at the brewery, 10/21/16.
Deep amber-tinted mahogany body is topped by a beige head, medium in size and showing moderate to moderately strong retention.
Rich fudge, lactose and light caramel accentuate the nose as licorice and plums sit in the background. Vanilla cream and light acidity from the malt and milk sugar combining give a good sweet/tart character, while there’s no alcohol or flaw. Very rich, comforting, but not cloying nose.
Same with the flavor, maybe I was just in the mood for a sweeter beer (doubtful) but despite the milk sugar being prominent here, with lots of vanilla and fudge notes, there’s still ample acidity near the finish that gives a lip smacking brightness and balance to the beer. Soft, of course, malty texture and low but engaging carbonation with no flaw or alcohol. Very nice!
