We’ve been friends with the folks at Smog City for many years and getting to brew a beer with them was a dream come true. Truly, only in the world of dreams could this remarkable beer have been manifested. A Belgian-style golden ale, brewed with Semillon and Viognier grapes plus three types of hops, fermented with Brettanomyces Trois as well as our house yeast strain, then blended with a sour blonde ale and finally dry-hopped with Amarillo hops.

Bottle. Very fruity, grapes, tropical fruit, like juice. Very easy drinking. Aroma is fruity with hint of plasticine! Light sourness, but fruitiness dominates. Very nice.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is grape forward with some lighter citrus and tropical fruit notes. Medium light grain notes and a hint of alcohol. The hops are definitely fading with age, but they integrate nicely with the musty grape notes. Pours a hazy, but bright, golden orange with a medium sized, thick, white head that recedes to a thin film that lingers. Medium light lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with moderately strong acidity. Light grain notes and medium light tannins and must. Low bitterness and light alcohol spice. Moderate grape notes with some light citrus and faint tropical fruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low but present alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice sour. The hops have definitely faded by now, but the remnants work well with the grape and yeast notes.

Bottle pour at AA. Light oak and big brett aromas with some pineapple and light muscat in the background. Nice creaminess on the palate. Good tartness and funk. Alcohol well-hidden with more muscat coming out as it warms.

Sample at the Far Out! Space Tasting #2 on 10/01/2015. Slightly hazy bright golden color with a thick foamy white head that diminishes gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of funky yeast, fruit and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of brett yeast, grape tannins, malt and mild hops. The finish is herbal and funky with a fruity yeast aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
