A bottle on the Ale Apothecary beers tasting at Firefly on Cambie. Tasted with Brian. Bottled 17-Mar-2016. Pours a murky golden with a white head. Aroma is funky, floral, herbal, earthy, some sweetness. Taste is sour and sweet, fruity, herbal. Complex and well-balanced beer. Refreshing and easy drinlable (9.3%?!). Amazing beer.

750 ml bottle @ Bakgården Både &, Kristiansand. Unclear golden body with a small white head. Very pleasant and complex in aroma, fruity, mild acidic fruit, mild Brett, hint of wood, lemon and slightly vinous. Flavor is also complex and pleasant like aroma, fruity, acidic, vinous, wood, funk and bitterness – all extremely well balanced. Lots of flavors but nothing really dominates the others. Fine balanced body and long lasting aftertaste. Expensive, but great.

Big oaky nose with tons of sourness - Green apples, lemons, creaminess. Big carbonation not as sour as the nose but lots of oak, funny and lemon. Just found this a bit too big and could be more like 7% and work better. Decent but not mind blowing

Bottle received in trade. Thank you cocoapugh! Pours hazy pale golden with a frothy white head that leaves lots of sticky lacing and trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is tiny malty, fruity and funky with crackers, white bread, lemon juice, peaches, apricots, green apples, hay, dry soil, leather, barnyard, lemon zest and hints of mushrooms. Tase is tiny sweet, sour, slightly malty, fruity and funky. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny dry, tart and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and sour with crackers, white bread, peaches, apricots, grapes, hay, dry soil, leather, barnyard and lemon zest. Cool one this one. Rustic, funky and a nice balance between sweet and sour. Lovely American sour really...

Bottle thanks to cocoapuph. Pours clear golden, small off-white head, dissipates fairly quickly, good lacing. Aroma is funky, cheese, feet, oak and lemons. Flavor is light tart, medium funky, some fruit, oaky lemons. Light body. Weird.

750mL shared by dice. Bottled sometime in 2014, the rest of the numbers have been rubbed away. Abv is 9.45. Pours dark golden with medium head. Aroma is strong with spikey esters, some light pear, wild flurries, berries. Flavor is too sweet for the beer, not super sweet but the context for this beer is off. Some light sweet apple juice with light tartness. Cool beer but too sweet. Rerate. October 2015 bottle. Sweet, lightly fecal aroma. Brett and fruitiness messing around, some sweetness, light herbal character. Lots going on. Flavor has some cider, too sweet for style. Mostly cidery and sweet, hiding the funk and brett. Still too sweet and still to appley.

Small rim over fully hazy yellow beer. Liqueur, perfumey, but in a very good, slightly vinous way. Fruit as citrus, banana; vanilla, maybe even Bourbon. Citrus², like drinking a sweet(ish) lemon, would that exist. Again vanilla. Sharpish feel, faint astringency, light to meidum body. Very good one! Many thanks to Don!

Poured from a 04/26/2013 vintage bottle. Aroma is rather fruity with a lot of pineapple, pear, tropical and stone fruit. Some moderate wine notes and tannins with some light oak. Light citrus and acidity. A hint of alcohol. Pours a hazy, gold with a large, pillowy, white head of moderate thickness that recedes fairly quickly. Really light lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly acidic with a hint of grain. Moderate fruit notes with some pineapple, pear, grapes, stone fruit skins and melon. Medium light tannins with some light oak notes. A bit of alcohol spice in the very dry finish. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with high carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a surprisingly enjoyable beer. I remember hearing this batch was off when I bought the bottle so I sat on it and whatever was wrong has definitely cleared up. Great fruit notes with nice complimentary wine notes. Very fruity and dry.
