Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is rather coffee forward with nice nutty notes and hints of dark fruit, berries and chocolate. Fairly strong chocolate malt notes with lighter roast. Light vanilla notes and hints of oak. Light alcohol notes. Pours jet black with a medium large, thick, dark mocha head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers. Light lacing and fairly long legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with loads of chocolate and lighter roast notes. Moderately strong bitterness and light alcohol notes. Light vanilla and hints of oak. Fairly strong coffee notes that add nice hints of nuts, berries and dark fruit. Mouthfeel is fairly full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really solid BA imperial stout, but not an amazing one. Fairly coffee forward but the base beer still comes through very well. I would prefer a bit more vanilla and for the bitterness to be a bit lower. The bitterness is more a function of the base beer and the fact that Churchill's really hasn't changed over the last decade.

Bottle. Pours black with tan head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast, licorice, vanilla, wood, tobacco, prune. Slick body, roasted malt, tobacco, dark chocolate, vanilla, barrel heavy, boozy finish, very nice.
