12oz can pours opaque sort of copper-y amber with a nice tan colored head of foam. The aroma is a good bit of roasted malts interlaced with malt sweetness and mild degree of vague hoppiness. The taste is rich red ale goodness with sweet maybe 40L crystal malts ’o-plenty’ residual base malt sweetness, plenty of malt roastiness, biscuit malts and Meladonin malts. Behind those notes are thin layers of smooth sweet cherry like fruity esters. The sweeter and roastier malts as well as faint vague hops and esteriness all come together nicely here.

Poured from 355mL can. Cloudy brown colour with minimal fast-disipating head. Aroma of mild hops, yeast, and passionfruit. Like a red ale with mild hints of bitter hops and tart cherries. Seem to recall being more impressed with it on tap at the brewhouse.

Can - You can smell the cherries and bread, not a particularly pleasant smell. No head and a clear amber. Tart, sour cherry and an alcohol finish. Slight bitterness and bit syrupy aftertaste. Not my cup of tea.

Pours ruby-tinged brown into a snifter. White head with medium retention recedes to nothing. Sweet pit and tropical fruit aromas. Soft with sour cooked tropical fruits upfront turning mildly bitter pith in the medium length finish.

Pours a hazy dark amber color with a medium fluffy white head that evaporates steadily to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of cherries, yeast and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of mildly tart cherry, grainy malt and earthy yeast. The finish is fruity with a caramel and cherry aftertaste. Decent overall.

12 oz can courtesy of bvc. The pour is a murky copper burgundy with a one inch off white head that falls with splotchy lacing. The aroma is cherry tart, tropical fruit, and an earthy rich maltiness. There is a light dirtiness of the earth. A hint of mineral is present on the nose as well. The taste is immediately tart cherry, moving quick to a bright tropical fruit sweet (passion fruit, I imagine) and then opening up into the earthy, mineral, faintly ashy malt. Really unique flavor, the tart of the cherry, fruit sweet, then dry earthy malt work together well. The palate is medium bodied, high level of soft tingly carbonation, and the mineral dry finish. There is a bit of tannin present here too. Interesting beer, thanks for grabbing this for me Brandon.

On tap. Pours an opaque amber with an off-white head. Sweet caramel in the nose with a spicy edge and a vague phenollic whiff. Medium-bodied, a lightly tart fruity or berryish edge - not too sure what that is, but it’s quite exotic. Dry and lightly tart finish. A nice and different take on a cherry beer - as it turns out. 180912
